“Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising questions of conscience” 1 Corinthians 10:25
God created animals for the sole purpose of balancing out the environment, creating human companions, and for domestication so we can slaughter them for more uses than just eating, or at least so we have been told. But who are we to play God? I have been told that my vegetarianism was a sin against god and I was ungrateful for all the gifts that he blessed this earth with. Yet, how could I be grateful and supportive of the mass production of meat in the food industry when those, social, animals are inhumanly shoved into tight quarters and fed incredible amounts of hormones to produce more meat. How can a merciful, loving god condone such behavior from man, yet I am the sinful one against the lord for not accepting the blood shed into my kitchen.
What they cannot understand is that I became a vegetarian for health reasons. My doctor suggested a plant based diet could be beneficial for balancing out my stomach ulcers since it is a lot less strenuous for digestion. After cutting meat cold turkey (literally), I began doing research as to why meat was a contributing factor to my chronic stomach pain, which opened my eyes to the horrors of the food production. After eight years of not consuming meat, my stomach has grown stronger and I am healthy enough to quit my diet. Despite my circumstance, I still consider the animals notwithstanding the hardships I face day to day, not eating meat.
